Expression which is based on truth and conviction can save one from troubles and keep the family together.
But if it gets too much out of the bounds and relates more to personal aggrandizement to the detriment of peace and harmony, then there is a reason to be alarmed about it and do something to curb it.

Anybody can be threatened by a strong minded person as they sometimes will not listen. When they do, they often will brook no argument. This type of behaviour will upset man or woman. So, I do not think gender is relevant. It is the inflexibility often inherent in the strong minded that often causes friction, If that can be eliminated by the ability to listen to another, then you have a treasure, man, woman,or child.
Let's look at the threatened man. A threat response will indicate the kind of personality he has. If he is naturally weak, he will be threatened by anybody. If he is also strong willed he will not enjoy the competition, male or female.
The question is not sufficiently honed to get a specific reply. And we haven't even looked at the moral issue involved!
It is my opinion that a strong minded person is often the one who makes the world turn on it's axis..

No. A lot of men are not 'scared' as you say. I was raised by women and my g/f is very strong and I would never change that. There is a difference between strong minded and pushy. Are you trying too hard to get your point across? I still have problems with my girl but we talk it out. I told her the other day if she was always right how come she wasn't further along in life. She was mad but she had a different point of view on how other people might see her.

Interesting question, but analysis from stereotypes of what men want in women and visa versa isn't going to shed any more light than at rubbish level. We all have individual wants. We formulate and create ourselves as we see fit and thus, when we see others who complement us (usually in thinking skills or some positive traits, not negative) , we are drawn to them. No where did I mention a complementary position between strong and weak minds for the purpose of a serious long-term commitment. A strong mind can aid others and is an asset wherever she/he goes. A strong mind means higher likelihood of dependability, reliability, strength in times of need, confidence, and persistence in times of difficulty. The strong can help the weak in temporary situations.
If a person desires to be strong-minded and behaves accordingly, why would one settle for a weak and friable mind in a partner? A weak mind secretly or subconsciously repulses/frightens the strong mind and the other way around. There is and should be no union between the weak and strong mind for any long-term purpose. They will find each other spiteful. One will ruin another's already paltry sense of self. The other will become a beast.

I don't think men feel threatened as much as they feel that women who are strong willed and have opinions are not very feminine. They feel we are women's libbers and man haters. But what they don't realize is that we can compliment them quite well, as we are supportive and stand our ground. Luckily I am married to a man who is also strong and opinionated, and we get along just great. We have a mutual respect and admiration for each other. But he has recognized that I have a soft side also.

The men you want to know will not feel threatened by reasonable opinions reasonably expressed.
A snarling tigress dismissing all men as worthless might have trouble forming a relationship
Where do you come between those markers?

I should say that just as there are strong minded women, there are also weak minded men.
Only weak minded men can feel threatened by strong minded women.
But I do not subscribed to the idea that women should be strong minded. Their make-up can not justify that.

Weak men are, but strong, emotionally mature men are not. In fact, strong men prefer strong women. Unfortunately, there are very few strong men.

I loved strong minded woman. I am not threatened by them in whatever ways. I find them as an assets instead of liabilities.
I am speaking of myself!

Adaptability and even malleability are more desirable traits in women who are the fulcrum to hold the family together...... a bit old-fashioned, but then all that is old is not crap...... more often than not, I find traditional values rather cool and collected!!
