The cotton/ jersey/ flannel must be pretreated to soften it. The fit must be loose. No tags, buckles, buttons to get in the way. The fabric must be able to breath so you dont get too hot at night and move easily so you dont wake up in the middle of the night feeling like you've been wrapped up like a mummy in your pajamas. If I wear anything to bed (= I'll wear my drawstring cotton loose pajama bottoms and a tank top.

I lovee mine to be loose, so I can move around in it.
Also I prefer the fabric to be thin, because something to thick will weigh me down. Nowadays, I just wear boxers, and a baggy t-shirt, very comfy :]
