i have a small george forman grill. it doesnt have removable plates. cleaning the thing is a pain!!! I was wondering will I break it if I actually clean it in my sink? as in like having running water on it?

i love the non-stick plates i just hate how it takes to clean it. i would be faster if I could just pick it up and run water over them

Do not immerse these kinds of appliance you could cause damage to the unit plus injure yourself doing this it is best to clean with a cloth soaked in water and use an old toothbrush to get into the crevises, do not use any sharp instruments to clean the plates, this unit is not meant to be immersed in water nor have running water on it, I believe they state this on the manual, next time you use the unit just spray with Pam non stick spray before using this will help cleanup afterwards Good Luck !

I have one too. I have never cleaned it in the sink. A friend told me what she does and it really works! This may sound dumb, but i promise you will be amazed after you do it. The next time you use your grill, as soon as you take your food off or shortly after. Take paper towels and get them wet with warm water. Wring them out and leave a little water on them. Put them between your grill and close it. It will steam a little but wont start on fire lol. Let it sit for 10 min or so, open it up take the paper towels out and wipe clean. It comes off sooooo easy

I have the same grill and the same problem. I have washed mine in the sink by running water over the plates (not immersing) for some time now, and it still works. then leaving it open and upside down overnight to drain. I can't say what the long-term effects are, but it hasn't broken mine yet - neither have I been electocuted.
Make sure it isn't plugged in if you try this!

you can in theory do that (run water over it) if you make sure you don't get the water anywhere except on top of the plates... but personally I've never find mine to be that hard to clean so I can't imagine what it is you're having such a hard time with... I'd still recommend just sitting it close to the sink and using a wash cloth and soap

I've got a similar grill and I usually put it in the sink and spray hot water on it, then let it stand a few minutes. Spray again and let it go again, then put dish detergent on my sponge and sponge it off. Nearly everything will be soft enough to remove easily. I don't have the issue with the area where the fat leaks out on mine.

Here's an easy way to clean the Foreman grill.... Heat it up, get a thick dishtowel... An old one preferebly, dampen it and run it over the ridges while the grill is hot the steam will clean it throughly.... When I was in high school we used this method to clean diner cooktops..

Good luck

Yes you can if careful about it and use only very hot water as hot water evaporates faster. Try not to get too much if any in any openings such as cords. When done flip upside down to completely dry. It would b better if u didnt immediatly use it and gave proper drying time
