england was in their 10 year plan, which was, there would be no war for 10years ,so they hacked the milatary budget to practically nothing and as a result they new they could do nothing[they finally ended it in 1938,but it takes time to gear up production]the plan also revolved around spending what little money was available on new developments and prototypes but barely any on actual front line units.their wisdom was why spend loads of money building all these weapons which will be obsolete by the time a war aproaches[remember they thought there would be no war for at least 10 years]but luckliy they did make develop new weapons[ie. spitfire, hurricane]they just didnt mass produce them. So,england needed a couple of years to arm and that is why apesment suited their needs.now for france, they had the largest army in the world and if they would have had the will to fight they could have crushed germany.america was pursuing a policy of isolationism ,being gripped by the depression, most american wanted to take care of buisness at home and not get sucked into a war in europe.as for hitler being encouraged by this ,yes he knew england and america would not fight, france he was not sure about.in his biography he was his most nervous when he sent his troop to reclaim the rhineland,it was as he said "the most nerve racking 48 hours of my life", also "if france had marched in we would have retreated with our tails between our legs",hitler.when he invaded poland he was so shocked england declared war on germany he turned to his foreign minister ribbentrop and said,"now what do we do?"

The nations that made up the Allied powers were not prepared for war. They would not have been able to stop Hitler's Germany in the '30s. In fact they may have lost the war outright if they had started that early. The Allied victory was not a sure thing, the Germans could have just as easily have won. But many factors allowed the Allies to win, including some fortuitous timing of certain events.

Appeasement did not change much. Hitler was already determined to take what he wanted. The period of appeasement only made him thing it would be even easier than he thought. But really once he had consolidated his power in Germany the war was inevitable.

Unlikely, because the "Allies" didn't operate as an alliance prior to the Second World War.

Although there were many treaties in place in the 1930s, most of these countries acted independently when it came to foreign policy. Britain, for instance, sought to appease Hitler, because it saw no immediate threat to it's own territory.

Britain, certainly, was in a parlous state militarily during the 1930s - so much so that it came within an ace of being defeated in the first year of WW2.

Allies did not exist at that time.

They confronted Hitler after it was clear that Soviets would take over entire Europe.
