I just bought a place, and I have been getting conflicting opinions, from the insurance company specifying that I have to keep it "clear", to the man who did the pre-purchase home inspection saying to leave a couple inches accumulation. Just need a good rule of thumb. I have a roof rake.

Each manufactured home is built to different specs. Top of the line homes are reinforced better and have better support beams and trusses.

Find out the manufacturer and contact them regarding your question. They will know the safety specs (they use them for sales purposes) and will advise you. Good question too--alot of homeowners skip this area and regret it when their roof weakens or caves in. Best of luck.

Depending on the area you live in, the specs on snow load for roofing vary but generally never are never built to support less than 60#. per sq. ft on any manufactured home made, and that is based on government specs for any manufactured home built. safe rule of thumb is if you think it looks like to much remove it, or hire somebody qualified and insured to do it for you. Check with the manufacturer of your home for more details.

I live in a high snow area and have never seen anyone clear snow off the roof. Call the home manufacturer to get the exact facts. No one else knows as well as they do.

The best person to ask, would be the town, village, or city building inspector, in your area.
