just one. What you do is write the 1/4 down and instead of divide by you write X then the next 1/4 as 4/1. This leaves you with 1/4 x 4/1 = 1
Try it with 1/2 divided by 1/2. Take the second 1/2 and turn it upside down, which is called a reciprocal. and you get 1/2 x 2/1 = 1
