One of the key signs according to the NSPCC of child neglect is - if they are regularly left alone, or in charge of younger brothers or sisters.

Three children under 4 were left alone by Kate and Gerry McCann night after night in Greece 2006 (where they admit openly to 'perfecting' the technique) and Portugal 2007 while they ate and drank at restaurants. As a direct result of this neglect Madeleine McCann aged 3 disappeared. Because the parents were out drinking, they do not even know what time their child disapeared (or say they dont).

And yet there are people who not only make excuses for this behavior but actually support parents who neglect their child in this way right here on YA Current Events - on the grounds that they were British child neglectors, so that makes it OK then.

Should these supporters of serial child neglect be named and shamed, or should we hope that they never have children of their own ?

What I want to know is who is protecting the serial neglecters? Why don't the Social Services or the NSPCC act ? Those twins are not safe in that house with Kate.If these had been council house chavs then it would have been a different story. Money and friends in Gov really speaks volumes. There are more people involved in this charade than we will ever know. Gerry has sooooo many contacts.

Were you left alone, as a child? Did you have to look after younger siblings?
Is this why you are so obsessed with this case?
Professionals say that if we become obsessed about something, it is a sign of what happened in our own lives, major things we have not dealt with, or been healed emotionally from.
There are children being abused & neglected, all over the world, right as we all type on Yahoo.
Wouldn't it be better to put some energy into trying to help, instead of endlessly blaming & speculating about this 1 case?
There are children left alone in Darfur, all over Africa etc. There are orphans whose parents died from Aids. Who cares about them???????

Well they were in portugal when it happened not the UK, so unless you know the law regarding this in portugal then no-one can really comment, they are only punishable under the law of the country the "crime" was committed in. That's why us here in the UK can't jail Gary Glitter for his kiddy fiddling, he did it in a different country, nothing we can do here sadly.

The real criminal is the person who took the child.
And yes, I support the parents in their grief and distress. If they are guilty of a crime, arrest them. Like most normal people I can feel compassion when something horrific like this happens.
Leave the policing to the police, and the judging to the courts. Yo're not paid to do it.

Why is everyone so obsessed with this case? There are probably ten similar ones in your home state not getting the publicity.

What're you giving us a recap for ?
We all know that the McCanns left their babies alone.
It was a wrong & terrible decision that no one has ever made excuses for.

There are a few of us who do not stoop to vilify them daily for that terrible terrible decision they made. We also don't accuse them of murdering their baby without any proof. They being British has nothing to do with it.... and its telling that you bring that up......

Your bizarre & cruel accusation that we who do not stoop to vilify a grieving family, actual support child neglect, and your consequent hope that we shouldn't have kids of our own, reeks of your own twisted & perverted sense of justice.

What exactly do you get out of this? By this I mean your constant posts about the McCanns. I can't even begin to imagine what has happened in your life to make you such a sour & bitter person. You are not going to crack this case by asking Q's on on Y.A. You're not going to crack this case full stop. You're not a Portuguese detective, about time you realised that.
