if somone were to inundate the market of a certain item they wanted cheap with fake items on different fake accounts? this would spread the demand across many items (most fake) leaving the real item desired available at a low price. I understand this is unethical but is it illegal?

For the record, I would never do this because of the ethical issues-only interest.

But what if I used friends pc's for the fake accounts? I suppose the scam is becoming more complicated than its worth though.

Yes, it is illegal. First off, you can't sell knock-offs on Ebay. Second, you have to have banking info registered to your Ebay sellers account. They will not allow you to open several accounts. Third, you would get caught even if you were to try this, and being permanently banned from Ebay (and the possibility of criminal charges) would not be fun.

Yes you can try that.. but ebay and compaies like ebay spend a lot of money to investigate into this.
And if you are not aware, in many countries its against the law now.
So I would advice not to try this that too on such a big website as ebay.

Yes, because you would have the same ISP address for all accounts. Thats pretty much how shill bidding is proven!
