Nationally, the Salvation Army will put your money to work better than almost any other. Year after year they consistently distribute 95% to real and needy people. With so many charities, less than half will go to the cause. The biggest portion gobbled by administrators. I even know a few where the amount is less than 10% I attend an Episcopal Church where 100% of proceeds reach the people in their food and medically needy programs, and Methodist and Luthuren churches locally do the same.

Based on the fact (found this out on PBS last year) that, on average, only 5 cents to every dollar donated to a charity actually gets to the end cause, I would research and find out which one gives the highest percentage... and pick that one.

Charities are money scams.
