Do you think people talk about some prodcers and mc's like they're still putting out 5 star/mics whateva material in 2007 like they did in the 90's just out of respect for what they did do? Take Nas for example his lyrics aren't at the level they were at illmatic but some people still name him as the number 1 mc of all time becuase of the lyrics on illmatic 13 years ago. Same thing with DJ Premier he doesn't make Come Clean's, Supa Star's or Mass Apeal's anymore just listen to Big Shug's Streets move and tell me that's near the quality of Mass Apeal.
I think both of them have the abilty to do that again Nas just needs to focus harder and premo just needs to digg deeper in the crates like he did in the 90's.

if any of our favorites really honestly did fall off would anyone admit it?

I think in some aspects we do...I feel you about Nas...he hasnt came close to me to since his first and second efforts...Jay at least gave us the Blueprint...but he is the same as Nas...As far as Premier I think he still has it, Listen to the joint Classic...Big Shug I dont think he's gonna give him his best beats...lol tho.

But we at the same time we cant over look what they have done in their overall career...thats like judging Jordan off of playing his last seasons with the Wizards. And forgetting about the Dynasty he had with the Bulls...You still have to show some type of respect.

The reason why I say things like "(insert top rapper here) is one of the greatest of all time" is that their mediocre release from a few months ago is still alot better than what some of the rappers are pulling out today.

Nas also has shown consistency over the past 13 years - something that is rare in the business today. Record executives would rather look for the quick dollar (the one-hit wonder) than to find the artist that could have a lasting impact on the game. Im not saying that Nas is the greatest ever, but with 4 albums well over 4 mics, you have to give the man the respect he deserves.

For Premo...until the "great" producers of today are making beats like Premo was doing all those years ago, I would much rather pop in my Mass Appeal cd and call Premo the greatest of all time.

In essence, with the state of mainstream Hip-Hop being like it is today, Heads will keep calling Nas and Premo two of the greatest at what they do, and as a result, will be reluctant to change their mind if it means putting something like Illmatic aside for Souljaboytellem.

Nas and Premo have shown consisteny which is why they're two of my favorites.

Dude some producers are still dropping sick stuff. For example you got Anticon on the new Slug EP's which are sick. Madlib with the Beat Konducta series. Peanut Butter Wolf's 2K8 B-Ball Zombie War was sick, and so was most of the Stones Throw things this year. J-Dilla's cemented classic Donuts was released only last year. I dont know what else you need I geuss you just gotta look a little harder to find stuff now, but odds are if you look you can find some sick production still.
