i have a ddr memory ram for my pc and im wanting to upgrade video cards. am i able to use gddr/ddr2 type video cards ?

Do not confuse system RAM on the motherboard with gddr on the graphics card. They need not be the same type. In fact, you should only consider gddr3 or better if you want fast frame rates when gaming.

Yes. The type of RAM used by your video card is mutually exclusive to what your computer uses.

I would worry more about what type of slot the video card uses, i.e. APG versus PCI-e and whether your power supply puts out enough juice to support todays powerful video cards. Most new cards will tell you how much power your PSU should be putting out to use the card.
