Europe didn't really "bounce back" culturally until the beginning of the Renaissance in the 1400s.

and this recovery is entirely down to the influences of the Arab and Islamic nations that the crusaders brought back with them. Europe imported their science and some of their art and created a new spirit of discovery and culture.

Economically at this time, Europe developed trade routes with the East and had the confidence to start the Age of Exploration and open up the Atlantic.

in actual fact there was no dark ages ,in fact britain and europe had massive leaps forward,according to knolledgable historians the dark ages never happened,
