Okay, start by distributing the -2 and 4.

Since the -2 is outside the parentheses, multiply the -2 by each of the terms inside.

So:
-2(x-3)
(-2 * x) - (-2) (3)
and you get:
-2x - (-6) which is the same thing as -2x + 6

Now for the other part.

4(x+7)
Distribute the 4.
(4*x) + (4 * 7)
4x + 28

Now add the two because that's what the problem says.

-2x+6 + 4x+28

You can NEVER combine two terms that have different variables. This means you can't add -2x and 28 because -2 is being multiplied by "x" and 28 isn't.

Both -2 and 4 are being multiplied by "x" so you can add the two.

-2x + 4x = 2x

So now you have 2x + 6 + 28

Now it's simple addition of 6 and 28, which is 34.

So your final answer is 2x + 34

multiply the (x-3) by -2, do the same on the other side 4 times (x+7) = -2x+6+4x+28=. combine like terms...2x+34

All you need to do is to distribute each one...so one the first one -2 * x is going to give you -2x while -2*-3 will give you a positive six so you end up with -2x+6 and when you distribute the second set you come up with 4x +28...after that combine like terms -2x+4x will give you 2x while 28+6 will give you 34...so your final would be 2x+34...hope this helps:)

2x+3=4x-7. Easy. First, Subtract --->2x<---- from 4x. Making the equation look like this: 3=4x-7. Bring the 2x under the 4x and solve. Making it 2x. Now the equation looks like: 3=2x-7. Now you take -7 and add it under 3. Now the equation is 10=2x. Then you will divide 10 with 2x. What is 10/2 ? The answer is X= 5.

Well, you multiply the -2 and the 4 to the terms in the parentheses.
You get...
(-2)(x)+(-2)(-3)+(4)(x)+(4)(7)

You are left with...
-2x+6+4x+28

Now you add like terms to get...
2x+34

You can simplify it further by factoring out the 2 to get...
2(x+17)

There you go!
