what is the use in using vlsi technology other than any other technologies? is it easier to implement?

It's not ease of implementation, it's PURE SPEED. VLSI basically means you can put EVERYTHING in one chip, and mass produce this chip that can do this one thing very fast, even if it's complicated stuff like video or image compression. Remember, nowadays video cards have all this "hardware implementation of shaders", that's the idea: built into a chip rather than that the GPU or CPU do it.
