I am just wondering if it will clog anything.. I don't really care that the necklace is lost because it wasn't very expensive but I just don't want the necklace to mess up anything. I REALLY don't want to open all the pipes and stuff either, messy job. Notice that this is the whole necklace, it was just a silver chain with a cross..

So is there any harm in leaving the necklace in the drain?

Depending on how large it is, it will accumulate hair and debris and could cause the sink to plug up eventually. However, this might not happen for a while.

You could attempt to use a piece of wire, bend the end into a hook, and try and fish around down in the drain to pull it out. This can get tedious fast but it has worked for me before.

Removing the trap from under the sink (the u-shaped piece of tube at the bottom) should be neither difficult nor too terribly messy. They are designed to come out with a simple pipe wrench. Some even have a small threaded drain the the bottom and you could try and fish it out that way.

Once it starts to accumulate gunk and slow the drain you will have to get it out anyway. Better to do it now when it will be relatively simple than later when it could be a massive clog.

It could clog yes. If a drain can be clogged by a twist tie then a necklace is certainly no exception. Look under the sink you will see a J curved pipe it has a couple of rings around it that unscrew, do that make sure to put a towel to catch water in the trap. the necklace might be caught there. If so take it out/probably will fall out. then be very care full and put it back together making sure it's tightened by hand. Then turn on the water and make sure it doesn't leak underneath.
Picture of what it looks like and directions.

Actually, considering that most people get ready for the day in front of bathroom mirrors over a sink, no.

You will find that after time your drain is not draining as well. This will be due to the hair that falls down the drain and becomes entangled in the necklace and cross. Over time is will become a huge hair ball that clogs the drain. It would be easier and cheaper just to make a mess and remove it now. There are instructions for this easy task all over the Internet.

Fish it out with a coat hanger or wire down to the trap under the sink. That U shaped pipe is where it is and where it will stay. It will collect hair and stuff and clog the pipe.

It should be okay if it went all the way through to the drain thing. But if it got stuck, it could start a build up. Try not to drop anything else. Except water.

It could be in the trap - take your pipes apart and you might find your necklace!

It will collect hair and other stuff. Best to pull off the "J Trap".

it should be ok...just pour lots of water down the drain and flush it out real good.
