French and Saunders were too awesome, but I loved it even more when Jennifer Saunders was paired up with Joanna Lumley in Ab Fab; Lumley is BRILLIANT!
Other honorable mentions for comedy include Will Ferrell, Horatio Sanz, Lily Tomlin, Molly Shannon, all the Kids in the Hall, Jennifer Coolidge, Steve Martin, and Rodney Dangerfield.

For favorite comedian, I would have to go with Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther franchise. For duo, those two guys from Little Britain. As an ensemble, the cast of Coupling (the British version).

Paul Mooney!!!
He's like the most underrated comedian...He wrote a lot of Richard Pryor's and Redd Foxx's routines. He also helped to give Robin Williams and other comedians their starts. Plus, he's funny as hell on the Chappelle Show

Hmmm....comedy duo...The Smothers Brothers
Hmmm....comedian........Bill Cosby
A lot of funny guys...but who can stand the constant stream of profanity from most of them.
Hmmm....comedy troupe....The original cast of SNL..close second..the Ryan Stiles/Colin Mochrie/Wayne Brady/Brad Sherwood/Greg Proops rotation of Whose Line is it Anyway?

The Stoooges, Monty Python, Marx Brothers, Little rascals never did much for me.

Monty Python is always a classic, so quotable & people know exactly what you're talking about. And Dane Cook is pretty freaking hilarious when you're in the mood for raunchy. Sacha Baron Cohen's a genius (Borat, Ali G, et. al.)
