It's obvious that the Patriots have a great starting lineup on offense this year, but how much better or worse will they be next year. They have the #2 pick in the first round of the draft, and since Miami will probably pick up Dorsey from LSU, the Patriots are free to take McFadden from Arkansas. So assuming that New England closes the deal with McFadden, how will this affect the passing-based offense of the Patriots? Or will they just get someone else in the draft?

you people are wrong. the patriots could be 2 times better next year than they are this year. The patriots traded their second string MLB to the sf 49ers for their 1st round pick. this means that will will have a top 5 pick overall. If the patriots draft Darren McFadden or another top running back which is more likely than any one would want they could have the most terrifying offense the NFL has ever seen! Watch out for the new england patriots next year. they will be unstoppable and you can count on it!

EDIT: with salary cap they have Defense and offense to spare. They dont have to run the perfect 4 wide and the have many good 2nd string defence they could let go. Its the pats. they can find a way.

.....and i hate the pats!

How do you know that the Pats will get the #2 pick? There are 4 teams with worse record and 2 with record as bad as the Niners.

And why people think that the Pats will take McFadden if they took Maroney on the first round a year ago?

Even if McFadden is available, they will upgrade the Linebacker position. Maroney has the potential to be great, look at his performance today when Brady sucked.

There worst enemy right now is salary cap and retirement, some starters might retire this year, and some players like Moss, Samuel, and many other starters are on their last year of their contract and they have like 10 million to spend, not near enough to keep all the players. Remember what happened to the Cowboys and 49ers of the 90s, yup the Pats are next.

For them to be as good next year as they're this year is unlikely. Every season is different but they will still be a threat next season to all teams.
