Yes-Several times, but most recently was when my daughter took an Intro to Social Work class. She came home the first night and told me about it. I added that class to my schedule (I was a Family Studies major) and after the first night I said "This is exactly what I have been looking for" and changed. Almost finished and then last semester I took an Anthropology class and was fascinated. May have to go after a second degree. NOT changing majors again!!
In my "early" college years (the early 70's) I changed almost every semester: Criminology, Home Economics, Business, Accounting (I got the furthest in that one)

If you've ever been in the southeast US when it snows, you'd know that people who aren't accustomed to snow and ice go a little crazy when it happens. All the weather man has to say is that there's a chance of snow, and everyone rushes to the grocery store and buys a lifetime supply of milk, bread, and toilet paper. It's the kind of thing where you have to wait in line to get a grocery cart because there are so many people afraid they'll run short of these three items. If the snow does start, that's the automatic signal for every nut with an SUV or pick up truck to get out and show everybody how they can drive however they want to in bad weather. They keep the tow truck business busy for a few hours. On the news, they stop all programming for "snow watches" and stand in the street just waiting for that first flake. Viewers call in and tell them where they've seen actual snowflakes.

Yes, I have always been a passionate artistic person. I studied piano for 12 years but my horrific stage fright prevented me from studying that in college. (I had physical and violent reactions) However, I also loved painting and drawing and wanted to major in Art. I had a portfolio and was admitted to the art department at my college.
My first year in college, my well meaning but overbearing mother badgered me like crazy, told me I should be a lawyer! So I relented and changed my major to history and political science. (those were the days before a "pre-law" major".) Guess what? NEVER USED IT. I didn't have the passion for law but I still have a passion for creativity and use it.
This taught me a great lesson..let your kids make their own mistakes. Sometimes it was hard to keep my mouth shut, but it is the best policy. Be there for guidance and support but it's their life!

No - I was educated in Europe and that is not allowed - unless there are extenuating circumstances. I chose the English Dept. and I had to stay there! I did add English History and later on in my life - I got M.A.'s in both at Northwestern University, Chicago. I never used either degree but when you tell a potential employer that you have them, it does help you to get your foot in the door (if not all of you)! So if there are any youngsters on this site - read well, study hard and make something of yourselves! It pays off - it really does!

Yes. I started out in Elementary Education because my parents wanted me to be a teacher. I taught one year and decided teaching was not for me. When my daughter went to college, I went and got my RN and have been happy with my career path ever since.
