I'm assuming you heard this in the Leanne Rimes song "Nothin' Better To Do". If so then the Pelahatchie she sings about is a small town located in central Mississippi.

Tallahatchee Bridge...a song from the seventies followed by a movie staring Robbie Benson.

Billy Joe McAllister supposedly jumped off the Tallahatchee Bridge. I don't know if it's real or made up. But Tallahatchee would be in the Choctaw language. It's suppose to be in the Mississippi Delta I think. Mississippi has a lot of Choctaw words on the map.

Like your first two respondents, I immediately wondered if you weren't thinking of "Talahachee" (sp?) Bridge which is the bridge in a song where some young man supposedly jumps off. But then, maybe there is a "Pilahatchee" Bridge, wherein I have no clue at all as to what it is. God Bless you.

The song was called "ODE TO BILLY JOE".... bt Bobbi Gentry.... FICTIONAL SONG...it INFERRED that Billy Joe might have tossed a BABY off the Tallahatchee Bridge ----The Talahatchee River flows from Tippah County Mississippi to Leflore County Mississippi----another song by the Staple Singers (Freedom Highway) also mentions the Talahatchee River.... A black man named Till was brutally murdered and sunk in that river many years back (the historical significance of that river)....

Its "Tallahatchie Bridge" and maybe its just made up. Who ever said it was a real place anyway? I dont know if it is, but I'm gonna say its probably in Chickasaw County, Mississippi, since the writer/singer of the song Bobbie Gentry, comes from there. And shes talking about the delta so I'm going with that!
