Innate consciousness reacting as a vibration,
on it's way to manifest as a thought,
so the consciousness can be made visible.

None but those we imagine.
-----ok, I misread the question. I left out the word 'in' when I considered it, so here goes...
There's no gap between rational thought and intuitive urge. They're so blended and intertwined that it's almost impossible to tease them apart, except in the case of discussion. Is there a gap between brain hemispheres? I can see that you're associating rational thought with the material and intuitive urge with the spiritual. To me, those interpretations are personal and not universal. The material is intuitive and the spiritual is rational.
There is an invisible arena, however, where the spirit becomes flesh. An infinitesimal point of power where idea is wedded to matter. This is where the Wedding between the Spirit and the Bride takes place. The material world is feminine in nature. It's no accident that the words 'material' and 'maternal' share the same root word. To me, this arena fills the gap between the material and the spiritual.

Rational thought - you need a normal intelligence .Explaining it scientifically when your mental frequency is around 8 cycles/sec when you are calm & you can analyze matters better at this state. This might go wrong in taking decisions,as only the knowledge & the experience help you.
The intuitive urge is the God's mind, where your mind will be around 5 cycles/sec.You will not go wrong at all if that mind makes the decision.

It is not really a gap - just perception. Some things you can 'conceive' with your consciousness, some you cannot conceive by way of logic - not even to be sure that they are real. The latter is of intuitiveness which is perpetuated as mere 'feelings' or conjecture, just because you have not or have not perfected the faculty to perceive them by reason. Sometimes it is like a matter of frequency. You can connect to that which you are comprehensive about; others you can 'sense' but not definitively.

Language, specifically metaphor. Metaphoric language is what bridges the gap and allows us to make connections between the rational, objective part of our mind and the expressive, subjective part of our mind. In the same way, words are the creative vehicles which allow us to bring the spiritual dimension of life into the material world of everyday existence: poetic and imaginative and mythical words.
Peace to you.

There is no gap, if there was we would be rational at all times, the intuitive urge overwhelms those who are inclined to act on it.

I'm not sure about the "intuitive urge"? Most often within myself what I imagine you to mean by "intuitive urge" is an urge of my MIND feeding the Left-Hemisphere of my brain thoughts which seem to "urge" me to some action.
I suspect some subtle dissociation my be at play as one labels such an "urge" as "intuition"... when it may not be intuition, but just ones MIND acting like something other than itself.
Intuition comes to one via ones Right-Hemisphere and it comes in the form of an entire concept. As soon as one begins attempting to put words to it, the intuition vanishes and ones thinking takes over. Such thinking could be called "rational" I suppose... but my experience is that such thinking is more habitual than rational.
Thinking is either ones brain rolling around words, or it is ones MIND feeding ones Left-Hemisphere thoughts that are intended to nudge ones brain one way or another. I suppose if the nudge is comfortable and reasonable enough... it would be considered "rational".
The "gap" between thinking and intuition is one of an elevated Apapsyche, or the Operational Energy of ones Soul. Some people are naturally given to use of intuition... and they do not realize that to use intuition extensively is "unusual". The normal and in the West preferred way of thought is to utilize ones Left-Hemisphere almost exclusively and to avoid using intuition as much as possible. The reason for this is fear.... a less than cognitive fear of the "Unknown" hidden within oneself [ones MIND realm].
The MIND of most people is too fearful of exposure of what it holds repressed within itself to allow those within whom it is thus actively repressing to explore intuition [which comes from ones Apapsyche (or Operational Energy of ones Soul) and is a threat to such a MIND].
Peace

Rational thoughts are based upon logic and originates from from intellect, whereas intuitive-urge is based upon illogic and from subconscious/unconscious/beyond. Illogic and logic are two complimentary extremes. When logic defies another logic, the later becomes illogic. In other words, illogical-logic becomes intuitive knowledge.
Even in our day-to-day life we act illogically, which is considered as positive aspect of our lives. For example, our relation with our beloved, family and friends are illogical (through our heart), whereas with an employer we always act logically (through our mind). Mother's love for her children is from her heart (which is illogical) and she will even risk her own life to save her child.
In spiritualism, logic is good to some extent, but after that it becomes a barrier. Intuitiveness is what we need.

The gap is in understanding. Intuition is just subconscious computation, and thus less trustworthy than spelled out logic.

The essence of what is bridged and shared by the Light and Sound, through which nothing passes but only merit or high purpose, which can pass through as smoothly and effortlessly as does air through an otherwise void, and, for safety sake, which otherwise appears as black as pitch to foil those who would dare attempt to breach that barrier who lack the light, but for which again, for one while in the clay shell, all is suspended.
Here while in the physical plane certain privileges are accorded us that share and borrow all the attributes of the planes above it, thus is that "gap" suspended and we do have certain access -- again can this be for high purpose or enjoyed by those who merit it.
