I am sorry, you should try to find yourself what acid rain is, but I want to react to Ralph statement that acid rain is the result of lead in automotive fuel. It is NOT. And I don't know what he means by 'other countries' but unlead petrol is what you find everywhere today. The only exception is AvGas which is fuel for small piston engine aircraft. Because those are air-cooled engine, they still need lead to smear the valves.
Acid rain is the result of air pollution from vehicles and the industry. Sulfuric compounds are often involved in the burning of fossil fuel like oil, natural gas and coal. All these also produce CO2 which, as well as increasing the greenhouse effect, also makes increases the acidity of the rain.
As a result of the south westerly winds in Europe, here, in Norway, we get much of that acid rain coming from industrial Europe. Each year we need to pour tons of chalk in our lakes to reduce the acidity. Otherwise, fishes are dying and algae are growing, cluttering the lakes and rivers.
