I attend university of florida. A student I know told me someone sent him an email saying he was a fat ugly nerd and they did not include a threat. yet he wants to report the incident to the dean office.

It's not funny at all and should be reported. People who sed such abusive e-mails, etc. are mentally unstable--it is not a joke. The university adminostration needs to be aware of such incidents in the event later escalation requires action.

Here in Australia we are taking bullying in our education system extremely seriously .. and that includes internet bullying .. .name calling teasing .. everything ...

or for this student to be so upset at the fact that somebody is attacking him via emails .. that he picks up a gun .. takes it to school and that HE becomes the attacker and shoots up all the Jock-Type students ....

I have been called worse and it did not bother me. If someone sends their comments via e-mail, instead of having the guts to say it to his face, I would just ignore it.
