just as an IMAGINATIVE IDEA pays in the REAL WORLD?

*laughing* The question itself is an imaginative idea that pays in the real world. :-) Your brilliant wit never ceases to astound, enki.

I have taken reality checks while in a fantasy world, and they do indeed bounce. The problem lies in that fantasy lends its resources to the reality bank, and the fantasy interest compounds unreality. Then the reality check is drawn from the pool of fantasy, and there is not enough reality backing the check.

I think imagination is in a different category from fantasy. Imaginative ideas have a basis in possibilities that lend themselves to construction. Fantasy is more an illusion that one might use to escape reality. At times fantasy can be a necessary respite. When reality becomes more harsh than one wants to face, however, fantasy can take over in a way that becomes destructive to imaginative ideas and to one's best interest.

Welcome Back Enki....good to have you here again.

^_^ Now the Question...

The problem is straightforward really.

--Of course the Reality Check bounces. Deep down I think we all *expect* that. The problem comes when we try to *manage* or control the bounce, or when we try to put a spin on it.

Because the truth is....controlling that bounce is a real-world skill. Reality checks, such as they are, tend to come from *other people* who don't always, or even usually, share in your fantasy world. And even when they do, the checks still hurt, because we've been in the bubble so long that we sort of *forget* how real people are in the real world (that they can be contrary, stubborn....and off in their own little worlds as well).

Controlling the bounce--that is, working *with* the other people who give you the Check--is a skill that you can't really refine in the Bubble, off in your own world. I've been there, done that.

And it's the worst when the "other person" bursting your own bubble is *yourself*, courtesy of your own real-life limitations. Really.

--And...the key with Imaginative Ideas is also about *other people*. The sound of one hand clapping is *non-sound*, or silence. Nothing really works in a vacuum. Music needs someone to hear it, or else there's no way to tell *for sure* if it's real or *noise*. The same holds true for any endeavor, if you just "write for yourself", you never really know if what you're doing is *doing well* or just sitting in a rut making things worse.

It's about the "aliveness" of your endeavor. Are you testing it against resistance, against other people *out there* in the real world? Because that's the only way you can *calibrate* your efforts, is with truthful, *real* feedback.

And the more, and better, feedback you get, the more your idea or endeavor pays off in the real world.

The point is: if you tend to be off in your own world, Living in a Bubble....you'd best find *other people* who want to join you, and who will be honest with you. It's the only way to keep your people skills sharp, and to keep your endeavors and ideas at least a little bit "real".

Just my two cents....wow, it's been a while since I've had to use this part of my brain...(*dusts cobwebs off*) ^_^ Good Question though!

You Could Connect The Two, Somehow, But In A Fantasy World, People Usually Are Set In Their "Imaginary" Ways, And Won't Listen To Truth, Still They Need To Hear Truth, To Bring Them Back To Reality. A Reality Check Might Be In Order, Whether They're Checkin In Or Checkin Out.

I do think that a Reality check would surely bounce when you are not in the real World. But I think that this is not the way to Live, it is fun when you Fantasize. The Real World as it is with too much, hassle, does not pay for any imaginative Idea.

I am glad to see you back with your interesting questions.

I don't think the reality check bounce when used in the Fantasy World. It pays off after all those wonderful experience and fantasies.

Imagination on the other hand is free and therefore always happy to explore the real world.

Thanks for asking. Have a great day!

Hey! Enki is back, you were missed.!
I think it does because if you are living in a fantasy world, like some teens and then your parents pop in and say clean your room or whatever the chore is, it sort of bounces you out of the fantasy.
I'm not a teen but have been there.
That would be true for any fantasy. This is the real world and the fantasy don't last no matter what a person might be told or think.

You know it does...we even have to pay the penalty for the bounced check...Karma. Our actions determine outcomes & must be played out to their resolution. Check, please! The bill must be paid. Your Real World and my Real World may not jibe...but the penalty (or reward, if we've "paid" attention) will be exacted, nevertheless, at this level of duality, the finite field of limitation. This is the Fantasy World. In the Real World (Infinite Field of the Absolute), there are no consequences, because there are no actions. Imagination and ideas are at the level of duality, in the field of constant change. They come and go, are born and die, though at our level of "experiencing" they do appear to have a "payoff:" playing to the ego. The real "payoff" is transcending the ego and realizing our true nature. I am Sirius

Yes, it bounces back, knocks you in the head, and sends you right back to Dream Land!

But Reality can only bounce when thrown, or dropped, or kicked. That’s the problem: we Fantasists can’t let the resting stay at rest. We crave the motion. Why sleep through the night, when we could instead visit the Second Star to the Right...

The World is sculpted by dreams, by imagination. You can either sketch the blueprints of your thoughts, or live in a Land of others’ creation.

It’s lovely to see you, my friend. :-) :-)

Singing...(formerly RU4REAL?)

"What's inside is not what counts...
Your soul's a check that's gonna bounce...

(that's a snippet of lyrics I wrote in an original song called...

..."Welcome to the World..."

(Flutterbypurr will be happy you're back...)

Merry Christmas...
