I did this with a yellow face hornet's nest. I waited until winter, then placed a clear plastic bag over the entire paper next. I quickly disconnected the branches, and the nest fell into the plastic bag. I kept it in the cold garage all winter, and in the spring, split it open. Pretty neat. There were a few hornets in there, dead, but the design was pretty awesome.

Don't keep it in your room until you are absolutely sure there are no live bees...

The bees are probably still alive. I'd call a professional or something. You could ask them to try to keep it intact and to give you the honey. You probably can remove safely now, but if you call someone, at least you won't be the one getting stung if something goes wrong.

I'm no expert but if you really want to keep it u should probably spray it first cause the bees might not be dead.

also this question reminds me of a scene in The Shining where a guy does something similar. just saying for no reason

just light a rolled up news paper and let the smoke go in and drive the bees out then move the nest

or wrap the nest in cloth take it out side throw it far away and run.

Sweet!!!! and maybe.... there is some honey!!! LOL

Well, they die man. Why don't you just take it out of your garage and put it outside for two or three days, at -15 F there is no way anything would survive.

Just remember to wear something to protect yourself (especially your head), just in case!
