Joe Lieberman is an outcast; he is the last of the JFK democrats, he loves his country and stands up for what he believes.
Before the socialists and communists hi-jacked the democratic party, no one would have doubted a democrat would defend the USA, if we were attacked. Lieberman is the only honorable democrat I can think of, who would definitely stand up to terrorists or enemies of the USA. The Gore/Kerry democrat would have talked big but deferred to the United Nations and would never have defended the USA.
Lieberman is a marked man, as any JFK democrat would be to the socialist democrats that we have now. It would never be a surprise that Lieberman would take a position that would cross party lines, he has integrity.
outspoken- a democrat would not have gone after the Taliban, I never said Iraq. I'm saying you and your ilk are yellow.

I'm not surprised. The Democratic party is not the party is was 40 years ago. John Kennedy pushed for tax cuts, and got them. Democrats today want tax increases to pay for programs that do not work. John Kennedy pushed for a strong military. Democrats today discredit our military every chance they get, and Bill Clinton cut military funding at every opportunity.
The Democratic party has become the party of extremism. Whether the subject is global warming, the environment, animal rights, religion, or whatever, the "wacko left" that controls the Democratic party says it is the fault of Man. Man has to lower his standard of living to make the world proper again, and to get things in balance.
There have been some democrats in the past who have said this, and I think Lieberman is one of them, "I did not leave the Democratic party, the party left me".

NO, not really. I live in Arizona (McCain's state) and its pretty obvious that McCain is a liberal when it comes to social issues (such as abortion, immigration and gay rights). The only Republican aspect that he seems to have is his stance on the war; he supports it. This is just like Lieberman. He is a liberal who supports the war, and considering none of the democratic candidates support the war, and none of the republican candidates (besides Guliani, that well experienced...mayor? ok never mind, not so experienced) are liberal with social issues McCain is his only choice.
oh and p.s. slappy, defending our country against the 9/11 terrorists is not the Iraq war, that was Afganastan. The Taliban and Osama bin Laden were responsible for 9/11, not Al-qeda and Sadam Heusaine

Joe is an Independent. He is backing his long time Senate Colleague. How would you feel if Fred endorsed Hillary?

Liberman is one of the best elected officials there are. He's beholding to no party, a true independent, and he has my vote every time. He only has to repond to the people that elect him, and not follow the rest like sheep. Definitively not an A*s kisser. and that's why he keeps on wining.

Are you talking about Ron Paul? No, it doesn't surprise me one bit. I know plenty of Democrats and Independents that are endorsing him, as well. He brings people of all races and all economic backgrounds together. I've never even voted in my entire life. Since Ron's came along, I've never had hope in America and looked at the American Flag purely with pride. People belong to the person, not to the party.

Liberman is probably the only true Independant we have in DC. The left hates him as he isn't a kiss-*** to their agenda, and he has a back-bone (very unconventional for liberals) and the right don't like his social/domestic politics...the man is all alone out there. i gotta give him props.
I would have liked to have seen him as VP...and Im a republican.

Mr. Lieberman's endorsement of a republican doesn't necessarily make him one. It does indicate however that he has recognized the looney lefties as way off base for America.

Considering the Democrat candidates from which he might have chosen, I don't find it surprising at all.
