Cats and dogs
You can buy cages and out hamsters and birds in them
There are also fish tanks
There's a penguin that walks by but I'm pretty sure that came with seasons

Aside from the fish tank in the base game, the expansion pack PETS brought these:
Dogs, cats, birds, and womrats (guinea pigs), and another fish tank.
The dogs and cats are fully customizable. You can pick your breed, their fur type, color, eye colors, size, and tails.
The other animals, the birds and womrats, you can't do anything with them except pick from a variety of colors. And you have very little interaction with them aside from cleaning their cages, feeding, playing (at the cages), and letting them free.
The fish tanks are just that...fish tanks. Nothing much to say about them.

Dogs and cats.
But you can download things that in the game do dog/cat stuff but look like penguins/llamas/etc.
You can also get birds and stuff but they are more like a decoration.

there's some turtles too.. but it's mainly cats and dogs..
