When I stopped wanting a better life.

When I was really little (4). I remember stuff from back then and I remember all the fun stuff my Brother and I would do on our 250 acre farm we lived on. Other than that, I've had happy and sad times. I enjoyed being 21 and 22, but experienced some bad times then too. I'm only 26, I don't think I've lived the happiest time in my life yet.

Since this is in the Marriage section, I will answer it in that context. I have been the happiest as a married man. There are pluses and minuses but for me, I wouldn't become unmarried. After kids, there is a certain amount of attention that I miss, but they are my kids, and I love them and wouldn't want them unborn.

There have been some extremely intense times. I am not sure that without the Lord Jesus we could have lasted. But it has brought us closer to together. I have a very close best friend on this earth, who is also my lover. There are still challenges, but having a relationship that is close, and knowing that she would take care of me even if I get in an accident and become retarded is a great blessing.

I remember being 11 yrs old and my dad bought me a used 10 speed bicycle from our neighbor. I rode the bright orange bicycle with the curly handlebars down the street behind our house. It felt so good sitting up on the seat and crusing along. It was the 1st time I ever had brakes on the handle bars and a big bike.
I was in hog heaven. It was the best feeling. I can still feel the wind in my long brown hair and the feeling of riding that bicycle.
We were dirt poor and that bicycle was the neatest thing and I loved it. I was happy as all get out.
Heck, it didn't even bother my that my bell bottoms got caught in the chain. All my pants had rips in the bottoms and oil on the bottoms, because of that bicycle chain, but I loved it and it made me feel so happy. I used to put rubber bands around the bottoms of my pants to keep my bell bottoms out of the chain.

When I flew out to Utah where my current wife lived while on leave from Germany in the Army. I was there for the 2 weeks in 2002, we got married and both flew back to Germany, not the right way to marry according to the Army but that's what happened. It's pretty much been a downward spiral to hell ever since. But, we do have 2 kids, so that helps... and they're both boys, so that helps even more.

From the age of eighteen to twenty eight. I know kids are resiliant, but I grew up in a dysfunctional home and it was sad. I went away to college, and although I did have time when I thought home life was better, I still found a lot of happiness when living single. But then my folks suggested marriage, and advised that I shouldn't wait too long. I thought about it and agreed. But now I kinda miss single life.

The first few weeks of any relationship I've ever had. There is something so euphoric about meeting someone you really like initially - before you've uncovered anything too disagreeable in their personality or habits. Nothing beats that happy nervousness, those butterflies you get when you think about them. Can't wait to feel that way again.

Can't choose between

My wedding day
First year with 1st love
last 2-3 months of singledom before meeting wife, after losing 1st love.

Don't really appear compatible. Probably explains why I'm miserable now.

Three years after my divorce. I had achieved a balance in my life, was the most sober I had ever been and was in the best shape of my life. I felt unstoppable and I was. I learned to appreciate simple things and it didn't take much to feel happy. I was happy to just be.
