I am a Christian and so I say Merry Christmas. I have complete respect for all other religious holidays, I am not trying to push my religion on anyone else. But am I the only one who feels that if not for CHRISTMAS, there would be no holiday shopping and festiveness? I'm fed up with major businesses saying Happy Holidays! It is my holiday that is spending most of their money on these holidays, I think I atleast deserve to hear a Merry Christmas on the commercials. I dunno, it just really irks me. So every chance I get, I say Merry Christmas, because I'm sorry, but JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON! Does anyone else feel this way? Like I said, I'm not trying to push my religion on anyone here, but I do believe in this one particular aspect of the holidays....

As a Norse Heathen I say "Glad Yule" but sometimes I say "Merry Christmas" when I'm at the Cashier in the store. I can tell they're kind of bummed about only saying that lame "Happy Holidays." If I say "Merry Christmas" they can say it back and not get into trouble with their boss. What the heck, it makes them happy.

Joy and good cheer are what the Yule is all about - even before the Christians "borrowed" it.

I say Merry Christmas, as a christian I feel it to be correct. However as my one politically correct trait, I do understand the reason for some peoples adversity to it.

Having said that I have a question. When did someone decide to rename the day to the "generic holiday"? Whoever did it needs to resend the memo because the printers of both my calender and dictionary did not get one, my calender reads CHRISTMAS DAY on the 25th, and my dictionary lists Christmas as an example of a Holiday, not the only holiday!

Merry Christmas!

I don't really mind to much when people say Happy Holidays -- the word "holiday" is derived from "holy days," so I think its ok to use it.

Winter is the reason for the season.

This day celebrated a birth of a "crucified savior born of a virgin" long before Jesus was around. The solistice is why this time was worshipped as very special.
