Sometimes adhesions (another name for scar tissue) can cause pain immediately after surgery for some women.

As for the cause of endometriosis, one theory that is out there is that a doctor can cause it to occur because of working with one area of tissue and moving it to another area. This type of endo would be called iatrogenic endometriosis. What that means is that it pertains to the doctor causing it but there's still a lot we don't know about endometriosis so a lot of research is still ongoing. And there are a number of possible theories for what causes endometriosis.

One thing we do know is that endometriosis can cause inflammation to occur which if and when the areas try to heal scar tissue-adhesions form. The thing with adhesions is that they can cause organs such as the uterus and colon (an example) to bind to each other instead of being in their separate places in the cavity.

A surgical procedure such as a c-section can also cause scar tissue to form because the area is trying to heal. With endometriosis too one other thing we know is that for some women with the disease already (and this can include those that may not know they have it til surgery for a different reason like the case of one lady I met) in other areas of the body and then have a c-section that the endometrial lesions can grow within the scar of a c-section. When this occurs it can cause what they call midline pain.

Scar tissue is different from endometriosis also because it stays one color whereas endometriosis as it starts out from new tissue (which can be thick as well as hide under the scar tissue-and why sometimes removal of endometriosis can be tough unless the doctor has a lot of experience with doing so from areas like a c-section scar or behind the uterus) to older aged lesions can change colors. The colors are as varied as the colors of the rainbow and in between.

There are two books I would recommend on the subject of endometriosis and both are pretty new. The first one is Endometriosis for Dummies and the second is Living well with Endometriosis by: Kerry Ann Morris

For websites I would recommend checking out: http://www.endocenter.org

If you have additional questions for me about my experience with endometriosis please feel free to e-mail or IM me off site any time.

Adhesions After C-section

I had a c-section with both of my kids and didnt have any fertility problems. I had to have larger incisions because of the size of my kids and the fact that my uterus was tilted back and sitting wrong. I am cut from pelvis bone to pelvis bone. I have some adhesions but not to cause infertility. I also had a miscarriage, but it wasnt for that reason either. I would talk to your doctor and see what they say. Maybe they can run tests.

You really need to read "Endometriosis Bible & Violet Protocol" by Zoe Brown (also available in electronic format here: http://www.endometriosisbible.info ). It's about how to eradicate endometriosis disease forever. It worked for me, you will see results in only a matter of weeks. Good Luck!
