math help having trouble with this question?

Question

My teacher help me with this math question but he didn't have enough time to explain it please help me

it's about substitution

y= x-8
y= -1/3x-4

x-8= -1/3x-4

1/3x= -4+8

this is the part I don't understand. Out of nowhere he got
4/3x = 4
can you please explain to me how my teacher got this? Thanks

y= -1/3x-4

So x-8 = -1/3x - 4

x + 1/3x - 8 = -1/3x + 1/3x - 4
4/3x - 8 = -4
4/3x - 8 + 8 = -4 + 8
4/3x = 4
4/3x * 3/4 = 4 * 3/4
x = 3

Since x = 3, we know y = x - 3, so y = 3 - 8 = -5

y= -1/3x-4

From the first equation, we take y = x-8
and replace the value of y in the second equation, with x-8

x - 8 = -(1/3)x - 4
x + (1/3)x = -4 + 8 = +4

x is the same as (3/3)x because (3/3) = 1 and 1 times x is x.

so, x + (1/3) x is the same as (3/3)x + (1/3)x

Three thirds plus one third is four thirds.

x + (1/3)x = (4/3)x

(4/3)x = 4

Multiply bothe sides by (3/4) to get rid of the fraction on the left.

well you have 1/3x= -4+8 i think he might have added 4 to both sides maybe thats it......

y= x-8
y= -1/3x-4

then you get
x-8=-1/3x-4 right
you want to get the x's on one side

you subtract the x's on both sides so now you have
(1x-1x)-8= (-1/3x-1x)-4
and now just simplify the first x's cancel out , then the second pair turn into 4/3x so now it looks like

-8=4/3x-4
now add the four to boths looking like this
(-8+4)= 4/3x (-4+4) simpilfy
now you get 4= 4/3x

thats what you got right thats how you get that answer!!!!

x-8=(-1/3)x-4 (multiply bu 3 to clear the fraction)
3x-24=-x-12 then bring the x's to one side
4x=12
