Some do and it isn't the milk it is colostrum. Your milk won't actually come in until after you give birth. The colostrum has all of the vitamins and nutrients that your baby needs during the first days of his/her little life. All doctors suggest feeding your baby by the breast even if you are going to bottle feed because it is so good for the baby. The colostrum isn't plentiful like the milk so the baby won't get full. Don't get discouraged the milk will come. I had to actually bottle feed as well as the breast when I was in the hospital because I didn't want my baby hungry. Most doctors try and discourage this because some feel you should just do the breast but, if you don't want a jaundice baby it would help to substitute until the milk came in. My milk came in about the 3rd day after giving birth. It is a beautiful bonding experience to be able to breastfeed. Good luck and Congratulations.

My breasts never leaked once with my daughter. I had no problems with breast feeding besides the fact that she got really bad nipple confusion from the formula I had to give her die to severe jaundice and we did not breast feed after 6 weeks. My milk came in around 3 days after she was born which is completely normal.
This time, my breast have literally leaked since I was like 4 months pregnant and it's driving me NUTS! If I lean the wrong way, twist my arms any way over my chest or otherwise do anything at all to put even the tiniest bit of pressure on them I get leakage.
As you've probably seen and heard 100 times over, every woman and every pregnancy is different and there really isn't a whole lot that can be considered across the board with ANYTHING to do with pregnancy!

Breast milk does not come in until about 3 days after the birth of your baby. That is average, however, and can be anywhere from 2-7 days and still be normal. Around the second trimester, your body begins to produce colostrum, which is a nutrient rich pre-milk with good antibodies. Some women will leak colostrum during their pregnancy and some don't. Either way is normal. Immediately after birth, your baby will nurse on colostrum until the breast milk production begins. It is smaller in quantity than breast milk, but contains an amazing amount of vitamins and nutrients. I have 4 children who were all breast fed as babies. I did not leak any colostrum during any of my pregnancies. My youngest 2 children I breast fed until they self-weaned at 11 months and 14 months.

Unless you've breastfed before I don't think you'll leak before giving birth. Your milk won't come in until a few days after you deliver. Once you deliver you'll want to introduce your baby to the breast as soon as possible and he/she will start to nurse. You'll produce colostrum - thick and yellow - and that's all baby will need in the first few days. Don't be tempted to give baby water or formula, really, what you make will be plenty. If you have a good nurser who wants to nurse a lot and the suction is strong, your milk might come in a little earlier.
I would strongly, strongly recommend reading up on nursing and go to the la leche league website. You'll need some good information about nursing, especially during those first few weeks when it's painful and you might be tempted to stop.
Good luck!!

The milk doesn't come in until a couple days after the baby is born. If a pregnant woman leaks before birth, it is not breast milk. It's called colostrum, and its VERY high in protein and antibodies. You also have this immediately after birth before the milk comes in

If this is your first child, your colostrum will come in when you give birth. This is an important type of milk that will give your baby immunities and nutrition when he/she is first born. After about 10 days, your regular milk will come in. Try to nurse your baby as long as you can, one year if possible. But the colostrum is the really important nutrient for the baby. If after the first 2 weeks you decide to stop nursing, your baby will be very fortunate to have received the colostrum. Not every woman's breasts leak during pregnancy, especially if this is their first baby.

Some women experience a lot of colostrum before giving birth but I never did with any of my pregnancies. Even right after giving birth it's not true milk yet, it's still colostrum. My milk always came in about 2-3 days after the births.

some woman dont get leakage before they give birth, and some do its no indication of how well you will be able to breastfeed, and your milk usually comes in around the 3rd or 4th day after giving birth, you have colostrum when your baby is born that they have straight after birth and they survive of this until your milk comes in because when they are in the uterus they store up energy to last until this time, but some hospitals do things differently and might give the baby a little formula, im sure you will be able to breastfeed, good luck

My milk didn't come in until 2 days after my daughter was born - basically the morning after I came home from the hospital. I woke up and my breasts were BIG and full. I think it's perfectly normal, I didn't leak at all until after she was born :) Hope this helps!

Milk comes after you have the baby. Sometimes some people start leaking before the baby is born, but it doesn't always happen. Mine never leaked but I was able to breastfeed while I was in the hospital. Still, you may not even be able to if it does come in. Just be prepared .
