trust me-there are people on y!a who are computer illiterate. just because you know how to access internet sites, doesn't really make you computer literate-at least not to me.

Actually, I think there are degrees of illiteracy when dealing with computers and I'd be one of the first to confess I don't know as much as I would like to.

I do agree there's a large number of us out here that don't know as much as we should, but that is the nature of things.

Fact is, the longer I live, the more I realize just how little I do know about a lot of stuff.

EYES YES AND MORE YES.I finally bought a wonderful comp.and actually spent a pretty good sum of $$ on the purchase.I had two fellows with me to help see that I got something worthwhile.I figured while I was at it,I'd get plenty of other goodies as well.Webcam, scanner, good speakers,etc.etc.But guess what?? I might as well have bought an Ox and Cart.I'm picking up bits and pieces, here and there, but am watching carefully for a decent course to sign up to get E-D-U-C-A-T-E-D.Am I embarrassed?? no.JUST OLD LOL!!

no. i know enough to know how much i don't know. i thought computers were cool since 1985 with the advent of the pc and the mac. have spent far too much updating over the years. but now i realize the advent of the web is just as important. it may be as big as the invention and distribution of the telephone. i really hate to communicate per phone. i am fascinated by the potential the web means for nations, individuals, everything. i can learn as much as i want to. wish i was young again. god i would have done so much. but now i just don't have the energy etc. but i love it.

This is probably not the best medium for the question as it is likely a highly biased sample.
