Some times it's a lack of self esteem that causes us to think that we don't' deserve better than what we're getting. Having a low self esteem some times causes us to feel that we don't deserve the same respect and consideration that other's get from their families and loved ones. Once we realize that we to deserve the better things in life including respect from other's, we start acting like we deserve it and we start getting it. What most people don't realize is that people pretty much treat us as we treat ourself. People are able to pick up on how we feel about ourself. IF we don't' feel like we should be treated with respect why should they treat us with respect??

Hurt is not an attraction.. it is a feeling of attention.. even if it's not the right kind to have.. It can be as a punishment to yourself if you let it.. somewhere along the line you should learn from the pain and hurt... and your head and heart will inform you to "stop".. and break the chain..It isn't the hurt that is attractive.. it's something else that you felt for that person.. and the hurt is something that you were willing to put yourself through just to be with them... You may be the kind of person that looks past faults and flaws.. which is a great thing...but you can't let yourself be hurt just for the amuzment of others...

Psychology would teach us that we create the reality we believe we deserve.
After reading your profile, I would think it validates this thinking.
Now the question must be asked, why is that your perception of you.
I would think that it has to do with the insecurity's of youth, all young people are overly critical of themselves. Or most anyway, you will get past this as time goes by.
You really do need someone to talk with. Y/A just does not lend itself to the conversation that would be necessary. Sorry this is the best I can do.

Findings from the field of evolutionary psychology would suggest that women are attracted to powerful men because they are the most likely to give them strong children, which leads to the continuation of their genetic line. Maybe you equate hurtfulness -- or some of the qualities that go along with it -- to power.

It is common and perhaps evidence of our desire to have that which is somehow dangerous to us; a specific type of excitement. The forbidden fruit, so to speak.
