I'm an intellectual seventeen-year-old who attends prep school. Always persuing goals and am a thinker. For instance, I write essays on the dichotomy between good and bad in life as well as other random ideas bustling in my head. I'm in a wonderful lesbian reltionship, have friends, but don't like to party or take drugs.
Despite that I have much going for me, I've been battling a depression for many years and have felt unbelievable bored. Bored with what life offers, what people offer. Bored with the predictability of life. Bored with things planned and things spontaneous. Despite how much I try to change, I still find life disappointing and unbearable (to the point that I've considered ending it).
Does anyone have good thoughts to share regarding my feelings? Nothing about religion and god please.
Thanks so much!

Wow...I've never encountered anyone like you before. I've seen (especially on here) people who want to end their lives to escape from pain or social pressures, but never someone who's just generally...bored with life. You're obviously talented, and you know it - why not put that to good use, and shape the coming world?
I know it can be annoying to go through the trite conversations and the predictability of high school life (I'm currently a junior in prep school, like yourself), but one can usually find an outlet for that ennui.
There must be something that keeps you going - your writing, your girlfriend, your thoughts - take what you know and love, and turn it into a goal for yourself. Or, you can branch out to any of the thousands of new areas: science, music, literature, psychology, philosophy (I personally agree with you about not turning to religion, but you may want to look into the Zen doctrine, which has tons to say on the boredom of life. It has helped me tremendously, and has absolutely nothing to do with god and spirituality), or whatever the hell captivates you.
I'll be interested to see what other people recommend, but I wish you tons of luck no matter what you decide to do!

You have to think about a goal, something that will make your life wort it. And then, go pursue that goal.
Also, I am sorry you're depressed, I have read something similar in the Bible, in Eclesiastes. It sounds just like your summary. The only thing that makes life not-boring is to realize that is a gift from God, and to pursue a relationship with God. He is the one who will not let you down. people and life will, too often. But if you can pick yourself up, and rise above, you're there! Good luck.

I have felt incredibly simular to that before. Life is like a roaler-coaster though ; going up and down..Things have gotten better and worse for me many times.. Things are not that so great now so now im just working on making things better again. The paradox of life being a dead end for one is just doomed to live life then to die; living is just to kill time before one's own death.
But really life has no meaning till you give it meaning. I do not think anyone is going to argue with me when i say that the world we live on is in a pretty s-h-l-t-t-y predicament right now.And well I must say that truly bothers me (also bothers me that no one seams to give a rat's Vss). So I find meaning in trying to make the world better..Even if it is done in just small ways..Though I am rather young at the moment I consider possibilty of one day having kids. If I do have kids I want them to grow up in a place better then this. And that [and some other things I haven't the room to mention] gives me a bit of purpose...

You say that you have all these great idea, Good take some of these great ideas and do something for someone who has less than you. Come up with a really great holiday party with some of your classmates for some of the kids at the local homeless shelter or for kids with cancer or any other terminal illness. Challenge yourself to come up with a do able idea to improve your community and carry it out!!! Challenge you and your girlfriend to come up with a way to reach out to other gay teens who haven't been as fortunate as you to find that special some one or family acceptance. There are a lot of ways to use your strengths to better the world around you, if you do that you won't find the world so boring.

I think boredom is actually a constellation of feelings. Your description sounds to me more like suppressed anger or massive disappointment from early childhood. You might find it interesting (oops) to explore what the boredom really is. I'm curious about it.
