boiling and freezing points
let the vertical axis as the Fahrenheit. . . horizontal = centigrade
in boiling. . . (100 º , 212 º )
in freezing . . . (0 º , 32 º)
equation of line
slope = (212 - 32) / (100 - 0) = 180 /100 = 9/5
9/5 = (F - 32) / (C - 0)
C = 5/9 (F - 32) . . . given the 5º C
5 = 5/9 (F - 32)
(F - 32) = 9
F = 9 + 32 = 41º
