I am just curious. I am in the Navy and there are MANY filipinos (especially in supply) Anyway, they are so close knit and like family almost automatically. What makes them stick together so much?

I think it's cool because I don't see any other race have each other's back like that.

i don't know why we're like that. we consider our far distant relatives as first cousins/uncles/aunties. for those filipinos who works abroad, i guess they miss the company of a fellow filipino. if they don't have their family with them, their filipino friends are next best thing.
its in our culture!

of direction they'd persist with one yet another as a results of fact they'd communicate approximately many things extra effective than chatting with people who're not Filipinos. We Filipinos are friendly so whether we are actually not in our very own usa, we nevertheless love befriending people who're Filipinos besides. And it is likewise extra gentle talking your community language. right here interior the Philippines, there are quite a few Koreans and you will see them purely carry out with their co-Koreans. all of them are buddies. You rarely see a Korean and a Filipino putting out mutually. you will possibly not notice yet lots of the persons are like that, not purely the Filipinos 'reason there extremely isn't something like putting out with your countrymen :D

Because they have a commonality. It's the same reason there is a chinatown in every large city, or a germantown. people who are alike tend to stick together because they understand each other. People from the same background can relate with each other. i grew up in a rural enviroment, so it is unlikely that I'm gonna find somebody from New York City to talk about hunting with, see what i'm saying?

Why not? If you were in a foreign country and saw an American, wouldn't you kind of flock that way?
I think it is natural. They are from a different country and come here to learn and work and live and it is easier to speak your own language and hang out with those who know how to speak the same language and are from the same heritage.
I work with some and they are very sociable with everyone.
I admire how they care for their elderly population. Everyone should learn from them.

Because they're used to living in a close knit neighborhood where everyone is family or treated like family. They certainly accommodated me when I moved in for six months before taking their sister away to the US.

Common culture, language, and ancestry. When hispanics move to a city we usually stay with eachother because we have faced the same ordeals, and past. We also have the second language connection. The same goes with my Chinese friend Kelly, she has lots of Chinese friends, and they are like family. It isn't bad though, and it makes for great parties, imagine my Cuban grandmother with her chinese grandmother... "Hey girls don't was the dishes cause you will catch a cold. Don't walk barefoot... etc"

I worked with a group of filipinos and they were some of the nicest people I have met. alot nicer than the typical white americans we all deal with.
Note- I am white but, the majority of us are a bunch of selfish a**holes.

Why do people in general with similar backgrounds and characteristics stick together? It's human nature.

Well, most of us are raised to believe everyone is family. Filipinos call each other "Kuya"[brother] or "Até" [sister] often even if they have NEVER seen the person before. :]
