Get an air pump needle and let the air out. Then you can put the basketball into a gift bag or a shirt box. This is only amusing if you will have an air pump with you or you are certain that there's an air pump in the household.

Buy a huge box so the person that your giving it to, thinks that its really big. Stuff tissue paper all around the box with the basketball inside and wola!
Reminder: You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, so don't judge a gift by it's size, because big things come in small packages.

buy a box, wrap the box, and but it in a gift bag.

tape some wrapping paper to the ball, do about 1/4 of the ball, do it sort of like paper mache.if it falls apart give it more layers and use more stickytape.

If you don't like the box idea from everyone else, wrap it like a spherical cough drop. Two rubber bands would be handy to keep everything in place. Twist the ends together and then tape up the twists.

you put it in a box you can't wrap it. Believe me I've tried and it's really hard and then when you think you got it the wrapping falls apart then a gift box came out of nowhere and hit me in the head so i put it in that and it worked!!!
so from my experience use the sacred Christmas box

wrap it up in red and white striped wrapping paper and twist the paper on two sides of opposite ends so they flare out and it looks like a giant peppermint candy. or be boring and put it in a box and wrap normally
