I'm assuming you're talking about hormonal birth control. It is a rare side effect the some women experience. There are so many different pills, and there's the shot, patch and ring. There are so many choices that if a woman experiences this, she should talk to her doctor, and explore the other choices there are out there for birth control. No woman has to live like that forever.

Nah, I have been on BCP for 6 years now and the only thing I get is up and down weight of about 3-5lbs

After the first month or two you should be fine... It's more the moodyness or other side effects but no decreased sexual drive.

Yeah it does. I was actually just reading an article about it. It happens in like 35% of women.
