Well, since Chile is located along a subduction zone, I would say the earthquake in Chile is due to the plate movements at the subduction zone - the collision or convergence between Nazca plate and South American plate.

That area of the planet is a subduction zone.

Those are not types of earthquakes. They are types of plate boundaries. Earthquakes happen as a result of movement along these boundaries.
