Why or why not? I think they have a shot but I think the Columbus Blue Jackets will win the Stanley Cup. I heard they been winning games lately. Is this true?

What is with all of the haters? I know everyone does not like a sabres bandwagoner, but I am there for my sabres just as much as leafs fans remain for their team.

Buffalo may have less points than the leafs, but that is only a result of the stupid act of giving a point to an overtime loser. The Sabres have two more wins than the Leafs. but those are the rules, and I am not bellyaching about the Leafs position, just the fact that the overtime thing is really dumb. Buffalo is only one point behind the Leafs with two less games played. Buffalo has just as much chance of making the playoffs as does most other Eastern Conference teams, as it is still early enough in the year.

While yes, the last two years were probably Buffalos best chance at easily winning the Stanley Cup, they normally do better in the playoffs when seeded fifth through eighth. Buffalo has suprised many a team in the past by playing the role of the underdog and upsetting a team in the playoffs. They are also only 6 games behind Ottawa.

Now, after defending my team, I can say that, I do not think they can win the Stanley Cup this year. They are still way to easily pushed around. Our West Coast trip last week proved that, when Anaheim pushed their way past us, and then the Kings followed suit. Only after the Kings embarrassed us did we come out flying against San Jose. The sabres need some bodies that can push around, getting rid of Peters and Afinogenov could help their chances, if they could replace them with some hard nosed players.

There are about 25 other teams I can see winning the cup before the Sabres. The Jackets are relying too heavily on Leclair's goaltending. If he fails, the team fails. That's not the making of a Stanley Cup team.

No. They leveraged an amazing OT and SO record to capture the Presidents Cup last season, only to be rolled over by a more complete Ottawa hockey team (who in turn was steamrolled by a superior Anaheim squad). They won't get out of the east, let alone past teams like Detroit, San Jose, or Anaheim.

I totally agree with you. It aint over till the fat lady sings, but I'm not holding my breath for my boys this season, though I;d love to be proven wrong. I've been saying ti for awhile, I think Columbus stands a great shot, they've really been a dark horse and I think we're in for a major upset.

San Jose, huh? Wow.

In both cases, I could only see it if my glasses were rose coloured (and they aren't)

Neither Buffalo (10th in their conference) nor Columbus (9th in their conference) are in the playoffs if they were to start today.

Last I looked, in order to win the cup, you needed to make the playoffs.

Buffalo has a better chance of making the playoffs than Columbus. But Buffalo doesn;t have what it takes to knock off an Ottawa, New Jersey, or Rangers team (and probably not Carolina either).

Columbus has only won 14 of 32 games, you need to do a lot better than that to make the playoffs!

You're kidding right? Bob? Zam? Did the wagon pull up at the station or is this guy lost?

Listen, the Sabres are worse than my Leafs in the standings. Enough said.

I can see Buffalo winning this year but they would have to beat some farely good teams to do it and i don't think bluejackets have been doing well lately

Come on. They lost four guys who lead them to the best record last year. And Miller is not nearly as good this year as last. I think the Sabres downfall began when they traded Biron and will continue until they hit rock bottom.
No Cup this year. And most likely no playoffs.
Columbus? What league do you watch?

No. Last year i would have said yes a million times over, but I'd be surprised if they make the playoffs this year.

No. The only team I will say has a chance from the East is Ottawa.
