The person who posted this said it best.
"because we live in a free society! This is the usa.. a free market.. i know alot of people don't like it and we are going in the wrong direction, but you have to take the good with the bad when freedom is considered.." That is why.

You seem to be under the impression that myspace is the only site were that is happening. It happens on every chat site, every forum, every social network (the technical class for myspace), etc. It is just that as the largest social network, it happens more often. If 5% of 200 memberships on a small site are predators, it will probably not make national news (that's 4 people). But if 5% of a site with 500,000 members are predators, it will make the news (that's 1,000 people). Yet the percentage is the same.
Split it up into hundreds of little sites, and it becomes that much harder for law enforcement to monitor them.

There are so many privacy settings on MySpace for people to use if they don't want their information out in the open. I don't understand why they just don't use them.
Kids need to step up and be mature - most of all, use common sense, like adding people only they know and using those privacy settings.
There are settings to: block off your account so nonfriends can't see it, you can block them from messaging you or trying to add you unless you know their last name, and so forth.
You can't blame myspace because they are doing everything they can to protect people, but people are too ignorant. Thiey post everything about themselves and where they live, and sadly there are some sick people out there...but nothing bad would of happened if people would just use that common sense...
Like the person said earlier, every person who has a MySpace account has to accept the terms and conditions first so that's why myspace won't be banned.

Because despite all of the negative things that happen as a result of being on MySpace, there are thousands of others who have no problem with interacting with people on the site. You just have to be careful what information goes on your profile, what you post in blogs and bulletins and who you add. I've been on and off MySpace since 2000 or so and have never had any problems with any user. But then again I am careful with who I add and talk to, despite having over 900 friends on MySpace.

How is any of this myspace's fault? They HAVE closed MANY profiles once they found out they were child molestors. That woman that ended up causing a kid to kill herself was a GROWN WOMAN for God's sake. And it isn't myspace's place to babysit children. That's where parents are SUPPOSED to come in. Know what your kids are doing, what they're talking about, and who they're talking to on myspace. or set up parental controls to block it out if you can't monitor it. It's really not rocket science.

Its whiny brats and impressionable teenagers that cause the problem. I am 21 and have a healthy network of friends on myspace. It will never be banned for that reason. If you don't like it, turn it off and don't let your 13 yr old daughter have it in the first place.

because its not myspace's fault, its the stupid people who use it.
people are constantly warned not to reveal themselves or personal information to people.
just because some people are personally against it doesnt mean it should be banned,
thats like saying peas should be banned because they dont taste good. myspace is not the issue, its the stupid children and parents around the world. parents shouldnt be so stupid not to notice their child being a total slut. and teenagers shouldd have some sense not to talk to some one they dont know. even if myspace was banned, there will still be predators and stupid teenagers. banning one website will not do anything.

the girl that killed herself was going to do it anyways and sex predators are still going to be sex predators
myspace makes no difference in life
it didnt make those people that way
think about thinks before you ask them and you might make it easyer on yourself

Myspace was not responsible for the actions of these people. If you live in America, you can do whatever you bloody well want to on the internet. Get used to it.
