You can put any kind of AAA battery in. AAA is a standard, so they will all have the same maximum power output which is the key thing with a battery. The advantage to alkalines is that they last longer than other types on the shelf. They're still a reasonable choice for an mp3 player. But if you'd rather have a rechargeable battery, you can buy a rechargeable set and use those instead.

Yes. Alkaline, Lithium, etc - is the type of metal conductivity of the battery. As long as it is the right type (you state AAA in your question) any will work.
Some better than others - but thats another topic all together. In my experience, one might outlast another by an hour or so - buy the cheapest ones you can, you'll get an hour less life, each - but also get about 2-3 more per $1 you spend.

Yeah same companies ask if they can put there batteries inside the package so people will go and buy them. They might also think this is the only battery that will work with this MP3 player. You can use any type of battery you want (AAA)

Yes you can as long as its a AAA.
I recomend investing in a rechargable battery and charger.
you can go through batteries quite quickly. and its always nice to have one on the charger rather than realizing you just ran out of disposables.

use a triple-a battery of any kind (doesnt necessarily have to be alkaline), can be duracell, energizer, anything. i recommend a digital equipment battery, it'll run down slower.
