Well........

I wouldn't say the goaltending is getting porous, they are staying around the 2.70 mark, and tonight was only 3 goals, none of which were truly soft. The goalies have given up 24 goals in the last 10 games (and 3 empty net goals).

Scoring is a problem but the scoring problem is easy to solve.....let the forwards shoot. 45 shots this evening, 17 of which were taken by the defense. Kane, Lang, Toews, and Havlat at times had their chances, but Vokoun played well. They seem to be running into a lot of hot goalies lately (Luongo, Kiprusoff, Vokoun). I'm confident that if they cut down on the shots the defense takes, and let the forwards do their job, an extra puck or 2 will find the mesh.

They could use a power-play too. Since Dustin Byfuglien scored his 3rd goal against Phoenix, they are 3/35 on the powerplay.

The only bad games they played in the last 7 were the Anaheim game, and the Buffalo game (which I sadly sat through).

They are winning face-offs
They are getting chances
The goalyending is a lot better than last year
The penalty killing is a LOT better

They just aren't burying the chances they get. The team is still building chemistry. Denis and Dale are happy with the way things are progressing, so, we will need to be patient.

Unlike others, I have not heralded this team to make the playoffs. Last year they were 25 points out...........I will guarantee that this year they will be closer.

The team is really a season or two away from being a factor... but they're moving in the right direction for sure. It's a growing process with ups and downs... this year I'd just pull for the team to make the playoffs and then it's all gravy after that.

The team is doing a lot better than it has done in the past. Sure Khavibulan isn't as good as he was when he was on the Lighting, but we have awesome young guys that can fly up and down the ice and score plenty of goals.

An awful lot of youngsters makes for inconsistant play. The situation will be very up and down there for some time and it will sometimes seem like it gets worse before it gets better. They are still a few years away from contending.

All would be well if they just played the Red Wings every other game.
