Ok, yesterday, I was at a computer store, and the most powerful computer there just happened to have crysis installed (I wonder why)
Long story short, I am still in shock with the DX-10 realism.
HOWEVER, at home, I can barely run the demo on low settings. What should I upgrade next in terms of computer gaming?
Pentium D 820 @ 2.8 GHz
2 GB 533 Mhz ram
250 GB SATA II Hard drive
BFG 7950 GT OC

PLEASE HELP me decide what to upgrade next!

Pentium D is dual core

Pentium D is a dual core, but it's the first generation - not nearly as powerful as the Core 2 Duos. With 533MHz RAM installed, it's possible that your motherboard actually supports 667MHz DDR2 RAM, as well. If the system is pre-built, they probably installed the PC4200 to save on costs. Something you might want to check into.
The hard drive is fine, as well - but your graphics card is not a DirectX10 card.
If nothing else, upgrading your graphics card to an 8800 is probably make the most difference.

First and for most is the processor. The engine this game uses requires high end dual or quad processor. Your video card is pretty good and if you run it on xp your ram should be enough. But what about your motherboard? If it can handle new dual cores i would get a new cpu. There is no need to change your video card because its probably the best dx9 video card out there so you should be able to run game on mid/high (not max). There is this easy "hack" on xp that you basically copy and paste some commands in game file (takes 2 seconds) and you get exactly same very high on dx9 as on vista's dx10. I can run it on my pc but its bit choppy so i modified it a bit here is the best guide http://www.tweakguides.com/Crysis_1.html

You didn't mention what type of motherboard you are running on.
If your motherboard is new enough to support the Core 2 Duo processor, I would start there.
Also, are you running DDR or DDR2 memory? If you are running DDR2 then changing out the memory for a faster set (800mhz, if m/b supported) will speed it up a bit also.
More than likely the computer in the store was running a SLI setup with Dual graphic cards also.

I'd say the entire computer would be good,
Really cpu is a bit out dated, ram is slow, need 800mhz or more,250 sats hard drive runs at what 7200 rpm? maybe a 1.5g/sec transfer rate?Vid card isnt so bad,but not the greatest for gaming.
If I had to choose though I would replace the Mobo and Cpu setup.Something at least dual core ready and sli/crossfire capable.

It's your processor. It's only a Pent D, which means its not a dual core, which Crysis really needs. MY friend (I can't run it darn Nvida 6150 can't handle the graphics even with everything turned on low), but your processor is too low. I think it wants a 2 ghtz processor is I remember correctly. I think you could run it on a dual core running at like 1.8 though.

Hi. Those are good specs. I would shut down any processes that are running in the background with msconfig, reboot, run a benchmark. Never saw a DX10 game yet but you got me interested.

Low settings? something's wrong there...but it'd say your weakest link is your CPU...although your RAM is kinda slow too..but that really shouldn't matter much.
