I know what you are going through, I craved only mexican food from week 8-12 and now I finally realized that I have to force down good stuff for the baby.
Thats not good for the baby because those are empty calories and little or no vitamins, so I suggest you get some green leafy veggies.
When I craved sweets, I ate salad with mandarin oranges on it or fruit in a can and those little plastic cups
You have to force feed yourself the nutrients you need, Its hard but you HAVE to do it, its not so bad after you get it down
Good luck with your force feeding adventures, your maternal instinct will make you do it if you dont want to, just for the sake of the baby

Oh I love those chocolate donettes...

Okay. Have you seen a doctor? Are you taking your prenatal vitamins? You would be surprised how prenatal vitamins can help those "over" cravings (though it certainly does not eliminate the problem!) And no--your child is absorbing nutrients, and therefore if you are taking supplements and eating the right foods, your baby will be fine. You, however, might have to do more work after the baby is here.

Don't fret; go to the doctor and find alternatives to sweets. Worst case scenario? Try frozen bananas, sugar-free treats, apples and peanut butter, peaches, anything that takes the sugar 'edge' off but also has protiens and other good things (not pure carbs, like donuts. But those are so good, I know!)

First of all, don't panic. Cravings when you are pregnant is your bodys way of telling you it needs something. Second, you really do have to be careful. You don't want to develop Gestational Diabetes. I had pre-gestational diabetes with both my preganacies. It really sucks. You have to stick yourself with needles to check your blood sugar. You have to watch everything you eat. It is not healthy for the baby. They tend to be larger and it is harder on them during delivery. They also tend to sleep a lot after birth and it is hard to get them to eat etc. Your body does not process things the same when you are pregnant. You also don't want to put on unnecessary weight. The heavier you get the harder it is on your body. It also puts you in a higher risk group during labor. Try walking around the block or doing something to keep your mind off the sweets when you start to crave. I know that is easier said than done. Don't buy the sweets and don't keep them around the house. That is the first step. Indulge occasionally. You deserve it. If you don't the urge will overwhelm you and you will binge. Talk to your doctor about foods that will provide your body with the nutrients that will trick your body into thinking it is getting sugar. Some starches etc. can do that. Also, try to grab an apple or grapes or such. Peel and slice the apple. Eat everything slowly. Eating something in small bites and slowly gives your body the impression that it is getting more and will satisfy that craving. About the baby being obese. Both my babies were over 9 lbs. They are normal healthy kids. I believe that instilling good habits like being active and eating right are the keys to healthy children. There is a study that says that a baby in the womb can taste what the mother is eating. So in a way a pregnant woman can instill bad habits to a baby. I know that I craved certain foods with each of my children and they love those foods now. My doing or were they craving the tastes, I don't know. Good luck and congratulations.

Try to be careful what you eat, because it is you that has to worry about taking off the weight after the pregnancy. Try to eat more fruit instead of cake and donettes. I know you are craving that kind of food but try to find something that is good for you to substitute for the sweets. I know how hard it is. Your baby is getting nourishment from you blood right now and try to eat a more balanced meal. I am not sure that the baby will be obese when it gets older. Right now it is more about your health right now and then the baby. Take Care, God Bless.

Girl dont stress~! Cravings will come and go through out the pregnancy. Just remember, if you are going to give into them, exercise too so you dont become miserable. I am no doctor so I cant tell you that this eating will/will not hurt the baby.
Dont believe everything you read either. Obesity's main 2 causes are lifestyle and genetics. If the parents are overweight, it is possible so shall the child be. If the child cannot stay away from the "junk" later in life, they will suffer from it but it will be on them. Just remember, when the baby gets here, your job until they are grown is to keep them healthy and safe. Just set a good example so they can follow. Start with yourself. A good time to start is now.

It's not the healthiest thing you can eat but I wouldn't freak out over it. Try other "sweet" things that are not so unhealthy like fruit. I ate a lot of licorice when I was pregnant. It still has a lot of sugar and carbs but it is usually low in fat. Another thing to try is Lite Hostess cupcakes (1 gram of fat!) or low fat crumb cake (I believe it is Hostess or Little Debbie who makes them). There is lots of other low fat stuff you can find to satisfy your cravings. Just try to make sure that most of your meals contain a good balance of healthy foods to make up for the other stuff you eat, it is good for your baby and you and it will help keep you from gaining too much weight too. Good luck!

Try to make better choices for sweets. If it's chocolate you are craving try drinking a cup of hot coco. If it's just sweets try some grapes or oranges or even Popsicles.
I craved snickers when I was prego with my son, he was born a big healthy baby, and is now 5 and is a bean pole! It will not have long term effects as long as you get all your other nutrients. Make sure you keep taking your vitamins!

its not really what foods you eat nessecarily b/c obesity ahs to do with the genes of the parents but being pregnant and craving so many sweets is totally normal. what you can do is take a walk everyday for the next 2-3 months maybe just up and down your street b/c that makes your baby very healthy

You really need to slow it down. I gained 75 pounds during my pregnancy and I ate very healthy.
This is unhealthy for you and the baby.
If you want something sweet, go for fruit. Pineapple, bananas, etc. This might not be as good as cake, but at least you're getting a healthier sweet treat.
