Each state certifies their own teachers. Since you did not earn a credential in that state, you will need to do so...this means often going back to school. All states in the Union have requirements that specify:

a state approved teacher preparation program - no state approves foreign programs
passing all tests - cbest, subject matter tests, often others.
student teaching.

You will need to do this.

I know that a number of states are recruiting teachers from other countries, so it is definitely possible to become one here.

Every state in the US is different. So, you'll need to check with the Texas Dept. of Education to find out what their requirements are. They probably have a website where you can read them. Or go to the nearest school district headquarters and ask.

Most likely, you'll have to take some classes. But you may be able to do that in the evening while you get started teaching.

And it will probably depend on what type of teacher you are trained to be. Schools tend to have a harder time finding teachers for science and math and special education, so they'll be a lot more helpful if you are trained in an area that they have trouble getting teachers.

Anyway, each state is different. Look up Texas' requirements or go to the nearest school district and ask them.

Good luck!

Well, kindly look up the states' directory. They'll help you out. Good to you for being a teacher. I'm a teacher myself in Malaysia. Haha.
