WE bought extra memory for our computer, and it was running super fast. Then my sister installed a program for her online class, and it was running soooooo slow. After she was done with the course, i uninstalled the program and the computer never picked up the speen again, if anything it is slower. I defraged, deleted temp files and the recycle bin. I tried everything. Why is the memory not recovered??

Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically! It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more!

If this is a PC, it might be a good idea to backup your data and re-install the operating system and programs.
There are a lot of things, programs, settings, disk fragmentation, wasted disk space, and so on that can affect performance. It's probably a good idea to back up your data anyway.
If you have the money, buy an external hard disk and just copy the data over.

couple of questions:
how many programs do you have running in the background / start up menu? If there is any unneeded, then disable them.
how full is your harddrive? if it is over 3/4 full , delete unnecessary stuff or get a bigger drive.
have you checked to see if maybe you have had a memory stick go bad?
Also try a registry cleaner as Zac said also.

Having too much index file in your computer may hamper your PC performance. Just delete it. Clean disk, as well. Don't index it if you don't need it. Try it out.
