Yes, in part it was. Mostly it is based on British common law and loosely the Magna Carta both of which are based on the church law of the middle ages and the Church law is definitely based on the 10 commandments.

Edit 1 What? Essentially you are correct. What a lot of people do not understand that all of the societies that helped define Western Civilization had some input into the American Constitution even though it may have been only in the negative such as we will defiantly leave that out IE cruel and unusual punishment.

If SR is right then we would have to say that is based on Egyptian law, the book of the dead has scriptures just like the ten commandment way before the ten commandment came to light.
