I do not accept all cookies. The ones associated directly to the site I visit should be accepted because of the way IE (and most other browsers) work. But the ones that come from sites other than the site I visited are generally there for data gathering. If I visit NYTimes on the web, I let the NYTimes domain offer me a cookie. But I absolutely do not allow cookies that didn't come from NYTimes.COM in that case. If I have a problem with an NYT cookie, I can send a complain to the postmaster of that site. If I have a problem with a cookie that DIDN'T come from the NYT site even though that is the site I visited, then I have no name and no address to whom I can send a complaint.

My preferred setting is (using IE) to follow path Tools >> Internet Options >> Privacy >> Advanced - and then set to accept 1st party cookies and ASK about 3rd party cookies.

Your question is not clearly phrased. I'm not sure that I answered you.

I think what you mean is the following.

You know how to get to privacy,so adjust the
bar to medium/high and then click APPLY
and then click OK, and your done.
Also go into security and set the same>med/high.
They will not jump about anymore and these
are safe settings.

Hope this helps.
