Naturally as a chef I am going to be working as normal over Christmas but at the beginning of this month, my housemate announced that he's going to be staying with a friend throughout December (possibly mostly so he doesn't have to pay a share of the gas and electric.). Is anyone else left alone in a shared house situation where all your housemates have buggered off to be with their friends and families instead of with you. Do you not long for a proper Christmas in the place YOU regard as home?

Eve G: Actually housemate is good in other ways. Trouble is that there should be 3 of us and currently only being 2 means division of bills is quite hefty. He is a young man and I am getting older but I can't help being a bit angry with him just now.

You are right to believe that you can have self-worth regardless of whether you're attached (forgotten name, sorry!)

Thank you Quizard: You'll find I'm on here quite a bit, amusing myself or asking the occasional serious question.

I'll be working over Christmas, on night shifts. But I live alone anyway. I work in a young persons' hostel and many of the residents are probably alone this Christmas, because of not being able to go 'home' at all.

i have been very alone for a long time and only recently have I started having good christmases, slowly, slowly building up friendships with people in similar situations to me, with nowhere to go for xmas.
I have to say tho, some of the best xmases I ever had were alone, kind of bitter sweet really. I make my environment so perfect, music candles etc, watch an old xmas movie with an outstanding glass of wine. It can be great, once u accept that this is the way its going to be and get over grieving for what you don't have.
Its funny, I am a chef also, and i made myself some awesome xmas dinners. Massive splurging.
I hope you have a very merry christmas.

I have been a family guy for the last 20 years.I have been feeling lonely at times for the last 2 years, after divorcing my whore of satan, unfaithful ex,and I have found out recently that self worth, comes from who I am and what I do,not who I am in a relationship with ,or whether I am even in one at all !!!
